Carpathian protected areas - guests of EUROPARC 2008The EUROPARC Conference will be preceded by the first conference of the Carpathian Network of Protected Areas (CNPA) (www.cnpaconference2008), from the 23-24 September in Poiana Brasov. About 100 participants from the seven Carpathian Countries will be attending this event. The WWF Danube Carpathian Programme is inviting Carpathian Protected Area representatives who are not yet members of our Federation to join the EUROPARC Conference. Conference participants will therefore have a good opportunity to learn about Carpathian Protected Areas and the work of colleagues from this region. Forum spaceForum space will be available throughout the conference. This will include at least 4 computers with internet access and meeting places.
100 Years of National Parks in EuropeThe first European National Park was created in Sweden 1909. The Europarc Conference 2009 to be held in Sweden will celebrate 100 years history of Protected Areas in Europe. An event will be prepared this year in Brasov to rediscover the history of European parks. Participants of Europarc 2008 are invited to contribute actively to this event. Forms and special requirements for active participation will be available on the webpage www.europarc2008.com from the 1 July 2008.
EUROPARC 2008 gala dinner: Show case for European cultural diversityProtected areas are not only about nature but also about culture and traditions. The organizers would like to give participants the opportunity to experience Europe's exceptional diversity and to show other their own traditions and culture at the conference. We therefore ask all participants to bring traditional costumes and/or CDs with traditional music from your region to the gala dinner on the 27 September.
